About York Prep

York Prep is a private, co-educational, independent day school located in the Lincoln Center area of New York City. Students in grades 6–12 are challenged to meet their academic potential through small, ability-based classes that allow for rapid progress through the subjects which students excel in and more moderate progress through those subjects with which they may have difficulty. The school also offers an academic support program called Jump Start that pairs teachers with students to help the students strategize and execute methods for academic success. Honors programs, independent-study courses, and college courses at Columbia, New York University, and Hunter College allow students to further their learning beyond what is offered through the traditional curriculum at private schools in New York.

Outside of the classroom, students engage in required community service projects, varied extracurricular activities, and auxiliary learning opportunities afforded by the school’s prime location in the heart of New York City. Parents are apprised of their student(s)’ progress through Edline, an online service that parents may use to view grades and stay abreast of pending homework assignments.
